Playful flirting versus intentioned flirting are vastly different. When a man flirts, he is normally doing it because he has other intentions. You can recognize this by the wolfish gleam he gets in his eyes when he does it. Most women, who are flirting for the sake of flirting, can recognize this and get all freaked out. They will normally find a reason to leave the room and will make it a point to not be around this male any longer.

The men who flirt for fun are ones who are pretty attractive and are used to having women like them. The flirting never develops into anything serious. Once in a while a girl who is not used to flirting may mistake the playful flirting for true intentions and may make a serious pass at the guy. In most cases, he will decline the affair, but may accept in some others. There is no way to know which will happen as it's too complicated for the man to even understand himself.

Some people may flirt without even realizing it. They may be involved in a conversation that turns somewhat naughty and they may find themselves flirting. They will not realize this until after they have walked away and will question if the flirting was innocent or not, how the other person took it, and potential fidelity implications.

Playful banter becomes flirting when one of the parties becomes sexually excited by such banter.

Prolonged playful flirting can lead to an affair because one of the people will eventually mistake it for something else, and may initiate an intrigue.

I'm a complete and total flirt. But I have to say that I do it in a way that isn't so blatantly obvious that I'm virtually asking someone for a bed party. Rather, I tend to do things seductively in order to attract the attention of the opposite sex. Knowing full well what body language indicates interest, I use it. I hold eye contact, I bite my lip, I smile, etc.

But the truth of the matter is, I just like the attention. I'm happily married and would never, ever cheat on my husband.

If a person is truly happy within their relationship, flirting will not lead to an affair.

I am told I flirt all the time but I do not see it that way. There is no reason not to be friendly and make a connection with someone on a social level. As long as both parties realize that it is just that the flirting can continue forever. Can flirting lead to an affair yes with a few drinks and the proper moment but at least one has to be the level head. I notice this is more of an issue in American culture then European where flirting is just that and simply accepted.

I am often told that I am a flirt. I honestly do not intentionally flirt. I suppose flirting is only flirting when the "instigator" is knowingly and actively intending it to be as such.

Otherwise, it would just be as in my case, overt friendliness.
