Are online pawn shops reliable?

I recently discovered on the web an 'online pawn shop' - http://www.goldguysusa.com/Pages.asp?intCatalogID=17

I want to know if online pawn shops are reliable.

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would be very cautious about an online Web site you are not familiar with.

The Better Business Bureau has a good site that lists many online business and whether or not they are trustworthy.

http://us.bbb.org/WWWRoot/SitePage.aspx?site=113&id=46a6a9cd-5402-454e-9476-e4df22e6f371

I have checked the BBB site and do not see the "Gold Guys USA" listed.

The pawn shop "Cash 4 Gold" advertised during the Superbowl on February
1. Whether this makes them reliable or trustworthy, I do not know. Here is there ad, for giggles.

Cash 4 Gold is not listed on BBB either, and I found a site that lists complaints about the company.

My advice to you is to avoid the Internet and go to a local pawn shop. It is too easy to get scammed online. A local shop is in your
community, you are more likely to get value for your money, they are highly regulated to make sure they do not get
stolen items, if you are scammed there's a real person involved that
you can accuse. The Internet is very easy to get ripped off and have no
one to accuse to get your money back. And even though you can technically file a police report for Internet crime, local law enforcement is not usually willing to do this (personal experience with an identity theft situation).

Here is a good site about how to sell gold and some tips to look for:

As with any business type, there are both reputable and dishonest business owners. I would do some research on any site prior to making purchases. The Better Business Bureau is a great place to start :)
