Are they real? No scientific entity has shows that they are real by any current measurement system.... Does that mean they aren't real or that we just don't have a way of seeing these energy centers?
I have found the belief of Chakras allows yet-another-way for my unconscious to communicate to me... and me to it. And... my unconscious knows MUCH more than I consciously know.
In regards to your specific comment... I tend to listen to what other people say about my Chakras/Biorhythms/Astrology/Numerology/etc... But then I always "triangulate" to verify. By "trangulate" I mean that I use other methods (sometimes two or three) to test out if what they are saying is "truth". I would recommend you do the same. Don't take what other people have to tell you as "truth"... continue to search, learn and heal with a wide variety of tools/techniques/people.
