Are beer steins made in the country that you live in?

I live in Belgium, a country rich in many varieties of brews.
Although every different kind of beer has a typical beerglass cut out for them, I do not know of any beer steins being used in day to day life. I assume there are traditional beer steins in Belgium but it would be a more common phenomenon for Germany (which is where the word beer stein(gut) originated from. literally: beer stoneware, stone beermugs).
Here's an interesting link(in sources) I found regarding "beer steins", which all comes down to their origin in Germany.
Drink with moderation! :)

Curiously enough, you may be right that Belgium does not produce beer steins. I say curiously because neighboring Luxemborg does, and the region of Germany most famous for its steins borders that. I have encountered occasional French and Dutch steins of assorted types too; but, all I have seen from Belgium are souvenir steins probably made in Germany, if not Japan. Maybe Belgians just don't like lids on their beer.
