If you enjoy playing chess, iChess is a good app. The evaluation version is free (and you can pretty much do everything you need with it)

Word Warp is very addictive. I use my husband's iphone and play that game all the time. He has it for free on his phone. It is a word game where the letters and jumbled and you have to figure out the six letter word as well as making other words from those letters. I'm not sure how he found the game but if you look in the apps it is probably there.
