Brand is different than product. The product is generally good with a solid, tightly integrated OS. Saying "Think Different" and then suing the pants off of inside sources and fans is duplicitous at best.

Yes. I think the Apple brand is shows the consumer that there is more to just price in computer shopping. I believe that Apple is helping to slow (and hopefully) finally stop the race to the bottom (ie which manufacturer can put out the cheapest desktop/laptop, which was/is severely hurting quality/innovation).

I think Apple helps by promoting new technologies and pushing out the old ones. Apple was the first to push out the floppies from what I can remember. Apple innovates and everyone else copies them and we all benefit as a result.

Yes and no. On the one hand it's great that someone can get electronics that will work with other electronics with minimal problems. On the other hand if something goes wrong with an Apple product what do you do besides call tech support or go to the Apple store? I don't mind the occasional problem in my non-Apple products because in the search to find a solution I can learn more about what I own.

I'm not sure that any brand can be "good" for any consumer. The products themselves can be good. If your question is based on generalities then I would say the Apple brand has been good for the consumer (at least in the early years and later years). Apple, the company, has been an innovator and has brought many changes not only to the computer industry but also the music industry as well. Granted Apple did not single-handedly change the music business but they have proven that if you offer a product (iTunes Store) and a device (iPod) that work seamlessly together then people will buy music w/DRM. Apple understands that the consumer wants convenient access to product and a product that is intuitive to use and reliable. This is represented by the Apple brand.

Yes.

Apple brand products have created a loyal following.
This is due to great customer service and innovative products.
