Apple's products and services are outlined years in advance. Steve being out of the picture for six months doesn't really mean much. Apple will still have stores and the website open, work on snow Leopard and the new phones will continue, more media deals will be worked on. The main difference is that Steve is going to be away.
It will take over a year from the time that Steve is truly out before you can see any products started from scratch while Tim Cook is in charge.

Do you think Tim Cook will succeed being in charge of Apple while Steve Jobs is out?
He's run the day-to-day operations before while Jobs was recovering from cancer surgery, but many Apple stockholders express doubts about Cook being able to run the company as dynamically as Jobs. What do you think?

Tim Cook filled in for Steve Jobs before in 2004, while Steve was out for pancreatic cancer surgery, and the company is still there. There's no reason to believe he won't do fine this time around.
