I think he will.
However him making any sort of appearance will over shadow any sort of typical news they normally talk during a conference.
If they have Steve jobs on stage they really need a big product launch to keep the people talking about the products and Apple's future rather then Steve Jobs return.
He has the star power to turn the attention on him if there isn't anything as powerful to keep the focus off him.
Hopefully the release of the new Apple Tablet will be leaked this conference.
The tablet is such a talked about rumor that it will be enough to shift focus to what the conference is really about.
Don't get me wrong.
I love Steve Jobs and I think its very important that his back in play.
He has done so much for the company and him being back will only do even more for the company but I watch these conferences for the new products.

• Good point, would it really be good for Jobs' appearance itself to trump the new releases

Jobs is back at work, so I think we'll at least see an appearance. I think the real question is whether it he will simply show up or whether he'll really be involved. Will he just stand and wave, will he make a product announcement (seems to be the most common speculation) or will he do more. At this point, it seems like anything less than some time on stage announcing a new product would be a disappointment to many.

From the stories on the net, he's been fully back at work for a while, supposedly overseeing the rumored iPad. So it would make sense for him to put in an appearance, and if he's well it would make sense for it be more than a walk-on, as that'll reassure everyone that Apple's prospects are good.
