Do you have to be a current college student or incoming college freshman to get the free iPod touch with the purchase of a Mac?

I am about to start my senior year of high school, and was thinking of buying a Mac laptop. Technically, I am buying this laptop for college, even though I am not yet considered a "college student". Would I still be able to somehow negotiate to get the free iPod touch that is available to "college students"? Thanks.

According to their Terms and Conditions, you have to either be: a current college student, accepted to a college or university, a parent of a college student/accepted student, or a faculty member. How this promo works is you buy your MacBook and iPod touch as normal, and then afterward, you can send in a rebate form to reimburse you for the cost of the iPod. It's likely that they ask for a .edu address on the form, but if so, I am not sure how they handle the case of "accepted students." If you have any friends with a .edu address, then I'd say go for it. You may be able to get it without the .edu address, but having access to one might help.

Also, there has been some talk of people receiving free iPod touches on the spot when purchasing a new MacBook at BestBuy, as a response to the Apple promo. The advantage to this is you don't have to do a rebate, and you get the free iPod immediately. So, this may also be worth a shot. You can read about that here:

Good luck!

I did this 2 years ago when purchasing my laptop & received a free ipod ... I think the only thing they asked me to confirm I was a student was my email ... but kinda fuzzy on the details. Was too excited to go play with the new computer ... kinda ran out the store.

Chances are that if you are a high school student, that your high school participates.
Check the Apple© website for educational discounts, last time that I checked they had a list of schools that are included.

Also some librarys, counties, and even companies were listed, so chances are that you or someone in your family is a member who qualifies for the educational discount.
