Anyone use Bank of America? Thoughts?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I've been using Bank of America for both my credit card (student) and my checking account for a long time now, and I'm pretty happy. I'm BIG on convenience, and the ATMs are all over the place - so if I need fast cash I can get it on the go. I also like that I can get free transfers of cash from other BofA customers in a pinch - no fees. Totally free. Overall yeah, I'd give a thumbs up to BofA across the board.

Hope this helps!

I use Bank of America for my checking account and I find it rather convenient. Its ATMs are virtually ubiquitous and branches are everywhere nationwide. Their interest rates and and benefits are pretty average.

Bank of America is a good bank for some who travels and uses it as a secondary account. As a primary bank their customer service is substandard.

We are using Bank of America now for our mortgage (formerly Countrywide people). We're actually in the process of refinancing right now and so far, we've been pleased. BofA is no doubt slammed with tons of folks refinancing or undergoing loan modification, so there's been a long delay between our original application and approval (hopefully soon). I can tell you that so far, the customer service has been very good - lots of written and verbal communication about our status/processing situation. I've called to inquire each month about the status - each time they've gotten back with me that day to give me an update.

Yes, as a bank they're terrible and the fees are insane. Stay away, stay far far away.

I understand they have some pretty competitive mortgage rates these days, but get ready for some headaches if you decide to try to take advantage of them.
