Hi! I have three year old twins. Mine are boy/girl and they just turned 3 May 2nd. Everytime either one of my twins would potty we would jump up and down and clap our hands and make a huge deal out of it. We would tell the other twin "guess what so and so just used the potty like a big boy, tell him good job". We would also reward them with a cookie, sucker, or something else. If they went in their pants or somewhere besides the potty we would let them know that that was the wrong thing to do and tell them no no. Also it was summertime when we were potty training them and we have a fenced in yard. We pretty much stopped buying diapers and let them run around without any bottoms on quite a bit that away we could see when they were going and we would carry them to the potty chair right away. This all may seem a little crazy but it worked. They were potty trained by about 2 years and 2 months. Goodluck! I know we were sure relieved when we did not have to buy diapers for two babies anymore.

Well this may sound kind of "mean" but our 2nd boy was very hard to potty train and we got this advice from my husbands aunt (who is a psychologist). She said to have him clean up his own potty messes, put him in regular undies and if he had an accident he had to clean it up himself (with parent supervision) but he had to actually clean it up. It took 2 days and he was using the potty without problems anymore. Guess he learned it was easier to stop what he was doing and use the potty.

I've never dealt with twins. But here are my thoughts:

Three is old enough to understand that their not being trained is not a good thing. They're being stubborn: they're capable, but not cooperating. When my son did this, he had to stand in the tub and rinse out his own underwear. I only had to have him actually do this twice. The third time, the threat of it was enough, and he started trying hard from that point and was pretty much trained from that point on.

I started *much* earlier with my next two kids, and wished I'd listened to my doctor with him. My doc told me that if you wait until after 18 months, it's going to be tough, but it's easy before that point. He was right.

Use colored packing peanuts as "targets". Little boys love anything that becames a game and giving them something to "shoot" at of course rocks for them!

Cherios are a better item to flush than packing peanuts and they float too.
