Even the bridesmaids carried Christmas Decorations... they carried those Victorian kind of wrought iron lantern... they were lit from inside with mini Christmas lights that were battery operated and had Poinsetta's wrapped around the lamp. (I looked for one online to show you but couldn't find the exact one I was looking for... but you can find them at a craft store)
The tables were decorated with Christmas decorations that the couple would be able to decorate their house with for years to come. There was a Christmas tree in the reception area that the couple also took home to decorate for their first Christmas. Guests each brought a Christmas decoration for the the tree in the reception hall that they decorated for the couple, while the wedding party was taking pictures. This also kept the guests busy during the usual down time while pictures were taken. The decorations on the tree that the guests brought... were used on the newlyweds Christmas trees for years to come, and each time they put the decorations on their tree, it took them back to their wedding day and the friends and family who brought each ornament.
There were not alot of children at the wedding but the couple had a Santa at the reception... and they had Santa give each child an enexpensive gift that also helped to keep the children busy while the adults were celebrating.
Christmas decorations are beautiful... and having a Christmas wedding just adds to the spirit and beauty of Christmas. The greatest thing about this wedding was that all of the expensive decorations that are usually unfortunately thrown away after a wedding, in this case were used for years to come... talk about bang for your buck. You didn't say when you were getting married, and this is truly a seasonal wedding suggestion but it was fun and it was cost effective. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and your future together.

M$which they had decorated beautifully. Had large garage in case of rain. The
whole family and friends cooked the day before plus set up as much as they
could for the next day. The ladies wore black skirts with white blouses. The
men wore black jeans, boots, and white shirts. They had a band come in
for the evening and had a wonderful wedding. It was one of the best ones
I have ever been too. They wrote their own vows, played 'their song' as the
bride walked to the groom. It honestly was amazing
I wish you the very best in your future together

M$Flamingos sabotaged another wedding we attended. Although they were not part of the official decor, a flamingo of some sort made it into every wedding photo. It annoyed the bride's mom, but pretty much everyone else enjoyed it.
If you have any favorite, over the top movies (Hairspray? Wizard of Oz? Rocky Horror?), you could go with that theme.
For something more elaborate, you could do some sort of scavenger hunt for the guests through a number of fun venues - nightclubs, historical sites, sites of personal significance - that ended at the wedding.
Then there's the semi-traditional Elvis wedding. I imagine you could dress as any other celebrity you wanted as well - Marilyn, Tiny Tim, let your imagination run wild.
Whatever you do, have an amazing time, and the best of wishes for your new life together!
