Any drawbacks to increasing Fan speed on my PC?

It seems if I boost it, it fixes some graphic problems on my PC, but I don't want my MOBO to blow up.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Fans are designed to run between a min and max speeds. Depending on the temparature, the circuits are designed such that the speed is automatically adjusted to give the optimum cooling. If the laptop is heating up beyound a certain max temp, internal fans cannot handle it, as they have already reached the max speed.

Increased noise, and potential problems could arise, but it probably won't ruin your computer.. better to keep it cool and replace the fan potentially then suffer heat-related graphics issues.. It sounds like you should decrease ambient temperature by cooling the room or using an external fan

Well, I'm currently in the basement, it's already pretty cool. I'm using RivaTuner to adjust my fan. At 55% my games lag, at 70% they don't.

It probably will reduce the life of your fan, but your machine will run cooler and that is more important.
