Well, there's no way to be sure, not being a Juggalo myself, but a lot of the mythology and culture surrounding ICP seems to be based around being an outsider or a reject. This, of course, is highly appealing to young people, particularly high school students, many of whom are tasting rejection for the first time and thus suffering from low self-esteem. Many, many, many bands - Marilyn Manson also comes to mind - play on these same feelings, not just offering sympathy to those who feel like outsiders but EMBRACING outsiderism, reclaiming some feelings of power and control by rejecting others.

Juggalos seem drawn to violence, which is kind of an unpleasant aspect to what otherwise strikes me as a pretty harmless outlet for adolescents. Sadly, it seems like the actual members of ICP don't encourage their fans to embrace their individuality, as Manson does, so much as they urge them to act out their frustrations, sometimes with malice.

Band member Shaggy 2 Dope even told an interviewer that he refrains from drug use because he'd then have to murder someone, and wouldn't have a good excuse. That's just kind of irresponsible behavior, if you ask me.

Here's one fan's response to Juggalos being called a "gang" or a "cult":
