Try viewing / opening all your text / email messages again. There may be a message in there that you may have read but for some reason the phone did not register that you read the message. You could also try deleting all messages.
Also, if you have voice mail set up on your phone you may have a message waiting for you. Check your voice mail messages and delete all messages. Sometimes with voice mail you may have listened to a voicemail message but did not delete it. You phone may be set up to still have that message icon still showing in that case. When you call your voicemail choose the option to listen to all messages not just new ones and delete all.

i have the message icon on in my phone but no unread messages how do i get rid of that? its really annoying
it says i message but i checked all my messages and theres none unread and i just bought this phone recently and i need help
