Announcement: Mahalo QCers wanted!

If you have great writing skills and attention to detail and are a member of the How To team, consider joining the Mahalo QC team! The Mahalo QC team is a team of Mahaloians who help Mahalo review, approve and reject tasks. It's a great way to earn M$ while helping out other users.

The QC team approves tasks and offers feedback, suggestions and advice to the writer of the reviewed tasks. After approving a task, a QCer edits the page so it conforms to Mahalo standards and makes the other necessary edits to the page.

Being part of the QC team is a great way to make use of editing and writing skills, as well as to help building the Mahalo community. Moreover, it's yet another opportunity to earn some M$. A QCer typically earn half as much as the writer on a task. The most active QCers make hundreds of M$ each month.

If this sounds like something that interests you, and if you have completed at least 10 well-written tasks and are a member of the How To team, contact me at camilla@mahalo.com for more information.

Thank you for your interest in the QC team!

The best answer will go to the user who gives the best reasons for joining the QC team.
Tip for best answer: M$1.15
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Joining the QC team can offer a whole new perspective to tasks and how to's as many of us depend on the advice of our QCers.

For new page managers, the task of completing a page, can at times be a bit confusing until one is familiar with Mahalo ways. But QCers that take the time to offer technical feedback, give the writer something to work on for their next page.

Aside from the extra M$, Becoming part of the QC team is somewhat like getting a promotion. Your level of responsibility changes and it offers new ways to impact the site and the community.

Being a member of Mahalo QCers is just another way of graduating to another level as Mahaloian. By being in this plane, one has truly embraced and has gain enough experience as member of this amazing community. As one reaches this plateau, it is right to say that the member has been accustomed to the three pillars of Mahalo such as Mahalo Answers, Page Management, Mahalo Tasks and the the Mahalo How To. By utilizing the knowledge gained in How to build a Mahalo Page the member can use the experience by being a Quality Checker.

I am interested in joining the QC team because I know that there is a delay due to an abundance of new pages submitted and not enough QC team members. I want to fill that void by getting the new pages reviewed and up on the web.
Then the pages can start enticing more people into learning about Mahalo and providing more revenue share for the Page Managers. Of course there is also that "make hundreds of M$" enticement for me.

Great reasons. I don't have the prerequisites yet for the QC team, but I'm going to be working towards that goal!

I voted this answer up. These are the best reasons, in my opinion. They are the same reasons I just sent a query to Camilla about joining the QC team!

Hey Camilla, sign me up! As a member of Buzz and How To, I know a lot about how to set up a page to make it as attractive as possible. I also like to help new Mahaloians along when they first start out on Mahalo Tasks. Plus, it gives me a great opportunity to branch out to new areas of Mahalo, which I normally wouldn't get involved in, like food or fashion, or all those other great categories, that I usually don't visit.
But the biggest advantage is: I'm European, which means I work US nightshifts. I can pick up QC tasks that are left behind after a full day of work by the US members, and make sure the new pages are up when they wake up!

I hope I can be an asset to the QC group, and help out reducing any backlog.

I would be very happy to apply for this position to assign tasks to Mahalo users.

Currently I have a wide range of experience in search engine optimisation skills (image of some performance attached).
- That means that I can provide Mahalo users with the best of the pages and keyword suggestions that can help them increase their earnings from the website. Also I have an excellent experience in Trends News since I had involvement in a big project 3 years back.
- I have an indepth knowledge about pages that are popular on Mahalo but have not been claimed because of lack of awareness of tools among Mahalo users. I can handle this job very well. This would benefit Mahalo and its users because users will get pages that have not been touched and working on those specific pages will increase the return of both the user and Mahalo page quality.
- I can comparitevely provide a better support to Mahalo users to promote their stories on the website on seo guidelines compared to any other Mahalo staff member.

If Mahalo needs someone according to these requirements then Holla at Me!

Great to hear that you have skills in and understanding of SEO, trending news and keywords! That is certainly helpful when choosing and promoting pages. However, a QCer don't assign tasks to users. This is a responsibility of Mahalo staff members and vertical managers. Promoting pages is not required by QCers either. QCers review tasks already submitted, approve the tasks if i up to standard, creates the pages, and makes some edits to the approved pages. If a task needs more work, a QCer sends it back to the user with instructions and feedback. You need to complete a few tasks and get accepted into the How To team before you can apply to the QC team.
However, your skills will certainly benefit Mahalo on other levels and we look forward to seeing more of you on the site!

Being part of the QC team will be such a honor for me because I value the Mahalo community and this community is getting better and better everyday. I will be quite an asset to this team if I am given the opportunity to review, approve and reject tasks. I am part of the How To team and I have written several tasks. I do possess the experience and the qualification need to be a QCer.

Darn! I only have five approved tasks so far. Although, I believe they are very well-written pages, if I do say so myself. ;-) Well, I'll be ready next time the opportunity comes up. I'm having so much fun "moving up" at Mahalo that I almost forget about that M$ balance that keeps going up with me.

Well, I have written over 100 how-tos. I admit though that English is not my first language but I believe that I've improved a lot ever since I first started in Mahalo. I'm interested in becoming a QC-er but I'm not sure if you only need native English speakers or not. Anyway, I certainly feel the need for more QCers now.

I'll admit my main incentive is seeing that members who are on the QC team are generally at the top of the month payout request list, but I also see QCing tasks as a way to learn a great deal of information (as you have to read each and every task entirely and check their sources) that you may not have read about on your own.

You get to learn a lot of new things, while making money, as well as make mahalo a better, bigger site, and helping other writer's to get their money on approval.

Hopefully my grammar improves enough soon to make the team. :) I've been working on it.

I'd love to be a QC'er. I only have 9 tasks approved, and one in the queue to be approved, but I've claimed more pages, and now manage 23 pages all in less than two weeks. I want to help Mahalo, and I'm experiencing the pain of not having enough QC'ers as well, so as a member of this community, I feel like it's my obligation to see that those articles get done. Plus, I like money. :)

As of Monday, I've finished all my other obligations, and I'll be doing Mahalo full time, so I will be available when I'm not writing my own articles. Wow, getting to read articles on all subjects all day...that's heaven for a knowledge junkie like me.

I really want to grow with this site and this would be a great opportunity to give and receive from Mahalo.

Ritzy, I know what you mean. I waste a lot of time when researching, because I get onto a subject, and just can't stop reading about it. I'm sure I'll also get some great ideas for my own articles too just from reading others.

You know dsaldridge, that is the best part of QCing pages. I have always been a sponge for knowledge, and QCing fills this void and helps me earn a little. It really is a fun way to make money, and we get to help others grow at the same time. Win, win, all the way!

I would like to be in the QC team. English is not my first language. But ever since I came to Mahalo, my English has improved twice than when I first came into Mahalo. Still I am trying to learn through the feed-backs on my tasks and also the mistakes the staff and VMs point out while I chat with them regarding updating of pages.

I have written more than 250 tasks, which have improved in quality time to time. I understand the need for more Quality Checkers due to number of tasks being submitted every day. I am really interested in this because, this is a great opportunity to communicate with the users while making some money as well as learning new stuff and writing styles.

Does a membership in How-To team really necessary to be a Qcer ?

I believe that How-To Team is one of the first steps up on Mahalo, and then QC, so I would think it is a strict requirement.

camilla's Avatar
camilla | 2 years, 3 months ago Report

Yes, being a member of the How To team is a requirement. The reason for this is that QCers don't pick and choose which tasks to QC. A QCer should focus on reviewing the tasks that have been the waiting the longest first. How To pages are different than topic tasks in formatting and requirements (steps, tips and featured videos for example). Moreover, they also have a different structure and writing style, and users that have not completed How Tos don't know their exact requirements. Membership on the How To team is an indication that a user understands this difference and also that the user has excellent writing skills.
