Coraline is awesome, it seems! It is in 3-D at about half of its theaters, and see it only at one of those.
It is rated PG, so not for younger kids.

Fanboys seems like a movie that would be good for a rental once it is out on DVD. Plus, all the controversy that took place during its editing and recently over its release has kind of put a bad taste in my mouth about that film and about supporting the Weinstein Company.
I would say go for Coraline!

Overall:
"Consensus: With its vivid stop-motion animation combined with Neil Gaiman's imaginative story, Coraline is a film that's both visually stunning and wondrously entertaining."
and
"Consensus: This undercooked, sporadically funny road movie is a sop to Star Wars fanatics, but the uninitiated will find little to enjoy."

Most movie critics seem to agree with my opinion of the film. It currently has an 88% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com, where you can also read 100s of reviews of the film.

As for Fanboys, the reviews aren't that great. It has a 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Unless you're a huge Star Wars fan, it's unlikely you'd enjoy it.

All the reviews I have read thus far have been positive. I've included links to a couple below. Personally, if I had to choose between those two, I would pick Coraline. The imagery in it just looks so spooky and it seems like the type of movie that you would really just find yourself getting completely wrapped up in because of the imagery and imagination behind the story. Fanboys seems like a movie that would be good for a rental once it is out on DVD. Plus, all the controversy that took place during its editing and recently over its release has kind of put a bad taste in my mouth about that film and about supporting the Weinstein Company.

I haven't seen either myself but the critics are raving about Coraline and lambasting Fanboys. Coraline apparently breaks new ground in being a 3D stopmotion animation that fits the storyline. Some reviews say it's the greatest 3D movie yet. Those who don't like it are mostly the usual crowd that thinks animation is only for kids and should be sickly sweet. You'd think they'd have noticed by now that animations can make great movies for adults too. Meanwhile, the reviewers have few good words, if any, for Fanboys, apparently an uninspired and lame comedy. Overall:
"Consensus: With its vivid stop-motion animation combined with Neil Gaiman's imaginative story, Coraline is a film that's both visually stunning and wondrously entertaining."

I saw Coraline tonight, and I loved it. The animation was incredible, and the story was very enjoyable. It might be a little dark for younger children, but if you're a fan of Tim Burton-esque animated films, you'll like it a lot. Most movie critics seem to agree with my opinion of the film. It currently has an 88% fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com, where you can also read 100s of reviews of the film.
