Does ''American Idol'' discriminated against country singers? Kendall Beard was dissed for her rendition of "This Ones For the Girls"
The judges did not care for her version of "This One's For the Girls". Was she a bad singer, or does the show learn more towards pop? Are there other performers that were overlooked because of their genre?

Well vocally country music tends to not be as demanding. And a certain amount of warbling is not only allowed it's expected. So in that way yea they do discriminate. But it's not American Country Idol.

Yes. They are really looking for a marketable pop or soft rock musician. One of the best musicians this season was eliminated early because he was too hip hop. This is not really surprising or even disguised by the judges.
I don't think they have a beef with country music, the problem was Kendall herself. It was totally off key during most of the song and it just scared me. Martina McBride has a big ole voice and that little girl just doesn't have the experience to make McBride's songs work.
Yes, Simon does not care for country music and he has made that known many times on American Idol and in interviews that I have seen. Simon seems to have a lot of pull and many times the final say, so that may be why people get a negative vibe from the judges when someone sings a country song. I did not think she sang it very bad at all though she is no Martina McBride.
