Through its slow, deliberate , gentle meditative physical movements and breathing techniques which stimulate the flow of "qi" (life force or vital energy) , we can with a kind of inner sight. see inside ourselves to observe breath, posture and tension levels. This allows us to correct problems before they become illnesses or injuries.

This is why it is practiced slowly.
