Under the new "Right of Conscience" HHS rule, can I be reimbursed by medicare for my faith healing practice?

The rule gives medical employees the right to refuse treatment that they feel violates their personal, moral of religious beliefs. It applies to all employees, including janitors, who work for the more than 584,000 medical entities that receive federal funding, including hospitals, doctors' offices and pharmacies.

In my new faith healing practice, I can care for any illness by offering prayers, laying on hands, and otherwise performing the faith based healing procedure of my patient's choice. I can even perform abortions using this same technique. For those procedures that are customarily reimbursed by medicare and other insurance companies, do I have the right to request said reimbursement?

I doubt it. The rule does not change the definition of accepted medical practice, which excludes faith healing.

It is very much debated as something that needs to be coverd however, at this time the Right of Conscience has not included that in the scope of coverage in their new release from December 19, 2008
