How can I delete a Mahalo question if I discover the solution before anyone answers?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You can email admin at contact@mahalo.com by email and ask them to delete the question for you, they will usually do this if you request it.
Why not leave the question anyway, you may get some additional information that you havent yet discovered yourself. If it is a good question the others on here may enjoy the challenge of researching the answer anyway.

M$Lon told me that the only way to "retract" the question and get the tip you offered back is to have someone answer the question with a stub reply, and then select No Best Answer.
It's a workaround, there is no built in way to un-ask a question.

M$This IS a site to find answers, maybe someone else had the same problem and your question could help them.
It also allows exchange of MDs, which help members and the overall community.
Anyway, this is what I would do. If you used your own money as a tip, and you would rather get a refund that's understandable. That's what I would do too. :D

M$@opher is right.
When you ask a question, you usually want the answer in a timely manner, not weeks or months later. Especially if you offered a tip with your own money.
On top of that, when questions get older they go to voting almost instantly, and you have no chance to select Best Answer. There are plenty of cases where that ends up with substandard answers getting the Best Answer and the tip. It's not great to end up paying for a poor answer that's far too late to be of any use to you anyway!
I disagree. If the asker offers a tip, expecting a timely answer, and does not get one, s/he should be able to retract the tip offered after a reasonable time. Since Mahalo provides 72 hours for the asker to choose Best Answer or No Best Answer, if there is no answer at all, the asker should be able to delete the question, or at least to withdraw the offered tip.
The problem is that when I discover the answer so quickly, I'd rather have my money back. :P
