Fares depend on the day, time, time until flight, demand etc. Farefast (which is usually right) is saying that fares for the flights you're looking for are on their way up.
1)
Thrifty has a car for $29.51 per day with unlimited KM's
https://www.thrifty.com/reservations/index.aspx?ControlTarget=TransitionQueryStringLocationTime&PickupLocation=ATL&CarType=EDAR&PickupDateTime=3%2F12%2F2009+09%3A00%3A00+am&ReturnDateTime=3%2F16%2F2009+09%3A00%3A00+am&LocalRenter=False&CorporateRatesOnly=True&IATA=00227053&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
Enter code "AU11" for 5% off. These work sometimes, but not all of the time.

A trick of mine is to find a quote like this and call one of the car rental places that is close, but not directly in the airport. Ask them what their lowest rate is and quote your price. Sometimes they want proof, fax them a printout of the quote and tell them to beat it by at least 10% and to come pick you up. As long as there are cars in the lot that they don't expect to rent, the manager will usually play ball.
2)
$358 seems to be the best price.
$365 is the current lowest price right now.
I checked:

http://www.kayak.com/
http://www.sidestep.com/
http://farecast.live.com/
as well as the major carriers.

& come back on the 16th at 9:55am to arrive at LAX at 12:05pm: LOOK FOR FLIGHT 48 LEAVING AND FLIGHT 55 RETURNING; I would act on this right away, buy these tickets quickly if interested and it's still there!
There are a bunch of other roundtrip flights available here for $299 too, through Delta and Airtran, however, your having to sacrifice a late return for an early arrival to Atlanta, vice versa.
OR
2) You could fly out of LAX at 9:40am on the 12th out of US Airways with 1h 55min. layover in Charlotte,N.C. and arrive in Atlanta at 7:08pm
& Return to LAX (non-stop Delta) on the 16th at 4:25pm + CAR RENTAL(economy-Hyundai Accent-UNLIMITED MILEAGE)for $433(tax included).
(orbitz.com- $433 flight/car packages with similar schedules were also available, in which varied slightly on the return departure time, etc.)
OR
3) Take an extended "red-eye" (which was also the cheapest flight only at $353(tax included) I found so far) at 10:15pm from LAX, where you would go to Washington D.C. first, and wouldn't arrive in Atlanta until 10:15am. Then, you would only need a rental car for 3 days instead of 4, and I just saw a giant banner-box promo for a 3-day special rental after I scoped out this particular flight(I think it was Hertz, but now, ironically I can't find it now-hahaha) The return on that would be again, the Delta afternoon non-stop to LAX. This flight plan you might find desirable because: A) "red-eyes" are more likely going to be quiet and laid-back, B) unless your a nocturnal type person, as long as your able to sleep at least at little bit on a plane, you can try to sleep during this time anyway, and C) If you've never been to Washington D.C., you can get a view of it when you fly in at 8:15am, and explore the airport there during your layover(almost 2 hours)
*GOOD LUCK*

What is the cheapest flight from LAX (BUR, ONT also ok) to ATL departing March 12th and returning March 16th for two adults?
Travel times are completely flexible. If you can provide coupons that make it cheaper to fly, that would be great. So far, the best I can find is $358 through Priceline. Leaving March 13th might also work depending on the savings.
If you get us a car rental for cheap that'd be good as well, but that's extra.

1) For $299 on the 13th (I just found this info at hotwire.com - tax and fees included), take the 8am Airtran (non-stop) and arrive in Atlanta at 3:05pm & come back on the 16th at 9:55am to arrive at LAX at 12:05pm: LOOK FOR FLIGHT 48 LEAVING AND FLIGHT 55 RETURNING; I would act on this right away, buy these tickets quickly if interested and it's still there!
