It depends on the number of passengers.
You can fit four (including pilot) in a Cessna 172 that rents for around $125 an hour. Flies an average of 120mph. Thats just over 5 hours to Edmonton. If you check with http://www.edmontonflyingclub.com you can even get a Bech Dutchess. Their instructors charge $56 an hour. But you can often find local pilots who are trying to build commercial hours.

Can a group charter an airplane from Yellowknife to Florida over spring break 2010 cost effectively? How/who?
I would like to get a group of my fellow Yellowknifes (Yellowknife, NT, northern Canada) together and all go to Florida for next spring break (March 2010). Regular airfare from Yellowknife to Edmonton, AB (the nearest centre) is about $700, 1000 air kilometers away. I feel pretty sure a charter company could send a plane here instead of Edmonton for a brief 'deadhead' to make the trip. It's not too cold in March, and the airport is well maintained with a 7500 foot runway. Any ideas?

virgin charter is a virgin branded solution to the global private jet charter industry. its full of mom and pop air companies and some bigger entities as well. But you can track the air traffic from your local airport and find out air providers to fit your needs.

call the FBO at your local airport. there should be a few charter services in town. if they don't have the equipment you need, they can rent it themselves or refer you to a charter service that does. good luck. (i'm guessing it's going to be cheaper to fly first class commercial than to charter)

There isn't a really effect way to charter a flight from Yellowknife to Florida, assuming you talking about the Yellowknife in Alaska. This is because there wont be an FBO with a charter large enough in Alaska to take you from there to Florida. If some how you could get to a large enough air port to have equipment to fly you down, the cost would be enormous and not worth it compared to flying first class.
