Christian Slater
During the early 90's he was at his best, able to show quick-wit humor in Kuffs, be a timid reporter in Interview with a Vampire, play up his debonair romantic side in a dozen romantic drama's and comedy's and even tackle action opposite John Travolta in Broken Arrow.
Slater is one of those actors who made pretty sound role choices but didn't quite make it to the A-list potential that he showed at the time. After a bit of burnout he did a lot of voice-over work for children's shows and movies, and some guest spots on a variety of TV Shows.
His best work to date is "He was a Quiet Man". His troubled and somewhat neurotic take on the main character was awesome. He also was on TV in “My Own Worst Enemy”.

Anthony Stewart Head.

Technically, he's 55, so it's a bit out of the range, but he's seriously got some talent. Here's a page:

Perhaps Robert Sean Leonard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Sean_Leonard), especially as he seems only to be credited with his work on House now, and never for Dead Poets Society, which was easily some of his best work.

Perhaps it is because he has an understated acting style that he is an underrated actor?
