Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Antibiotics
# Cellulitis can be treated with a prescription of oral antibiotics. Penicillin, flucloxacillin, cefuroxime or erythromycin are the most common oral medications. Antibiotics will need to be taken for up to two weeks. After a few days, the infection may clear up. Continue with the antibiotics until the medication runs out. If the oral medication does not clear up the infection or you are allergic to the oral medication, antibiotics can be administered intravenously at a hospital.
Natural Methods
# There are some natural remedies to treat cellulitis. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, some herbs that are effective include echinacea, Pycnogenol, thyme and gotu kola and can be taken orally. Herbs that may be applied to the skin include goldenseal root, yarrow, tea tree oil, fenugreek seed and calendula flower. Before using any herbs, consult with your doctor.
Home Care
# While at home, there are certain ways to treat cellulitis. Continue to take your prescribed dosage. Maintain clean skin. Keep the affected area raised to lower swelling. Place a warm compress on the infected area. If needed, use pain medication. To thwart fluid from building up, wear support stockings.
