A crater appeared overnight in Germany! Anyone know anymore details?

I was sorting through my YouTube subscriptions and noticed a video posted on CBSNewsOnline with the above title. Now, being apart of the south and having followed the stories on sinkholes in South America, I can recognize it as appearing to be a cover-collapse sinkhole. I'm wondering if anyone knows any details because it looks as though it narrowly missed taking anyone with it...

A general view of a large crater that appeared in the early hours in the central German town of Schmalkalden, November 1, 2010. A huge crater measuring 30 by 40 metres has opened up in the middle of a residential estate, according to local police. Photograph by: ALEX DOMANSKI, Reuters Read more on listed source.

Although no injuries were reported, there was immediate evacuation. "It wasn’t immediately clear why the ground collapsed, Lutz Katschmann of Thuringia state’s environment and geology office said. Katschmann added that it was possible that rock formations underground broke up that created a cavity. Germany occasionally experiences potholes when water creates cavities in areas of karst rock or ancient mines collapse." www.batangastoday.com

Massive Crater Opened Up In Germany, Swallowed A Car

German Crater
According to several news sites, a massive crater has opened up in the middle of a housing estate in Schmalkalden, a small town in Germany‘s central hill country, 120km northeast of Frankfurt. The hole, about 20m deep and 40m wide swallowed a car.

At about 3:00AM (0200GMT) on Monday, emergency services were called to the scene by a resident who said that he hears unusual noises. Six houses were affected and 25 people were evacuated immediately.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the ground collapsed, Lutz Katschmann of Thuringia state’s environment and geology office said. Katschmann added that it was possible that rock formations underground broke up that created a cavity. Germany occasionally experiences potholes when water creates cavities in areas of karst rock or ancient mines collapse.

No one dared to go near the hole. A helicopter was hired to take aerial photographs and measurements, Mayor Thomas Kaminski said.

N24 television quoted Fred Jaeger, another police spokesperson, saying that police were checking some residents’ claim who remembered there had been a Second World War air-raid bunker under the street.

rock on. I appreciate the responce. future reference though:
Always put your source (where you got the info) in the source bar and put quotes around anything you directly quote. Additionally, always try to provide your own original content with the quotes material and limit the quoted material to roughly 10-20% of your full content.
Don't worry, you aren't in trouble and I really do appreciate the update, I just don't want to see someone being helpful get accused of plagiarism. And trust- we ALL have been called on this one. I'm just playing forward the help and pointers that were given to me on to you.
