I'm the QC-er who reviewed your page earlier, and returned it to you so you could finish it.
Here's the page of instructions on how to write how tos: http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-join-the-how-to-team
All how tos on Mahalo are supposed to built through tasks-- so you followed the correct procedure in working on the page through the tasks template. I'm sure that @annek (the how to group manager) will sort out the situation with the duplicate page asap.
The basic process is that you keep your notes offline, and write the actual how to in the Tasks boxes. When the task is approved, the boxes all go to the correct places on the How to page, so it's important to fill them out in order-- guide note in the guide note box, introduction in its box, steps in their boxes, and relateds in that box. When the page is accepted, the QC-er will edit it for spelling, grammar, writing style, how to formatting issues, etc, but the basic page structure is created automatically by the tasks template.
I hope this helps!

The key is to Claim the task, and then just go to some other part of Mahalo and come back to tasks and you should find the Task in your MyTasks. You can reveiw the requirements, but don't edit directly into the template until you have finished all your research and writing outside of Mahalo.
I use Notepad++ to edit documents off line and then just cut and paste into Mahalo templates. Then submit your task or page. You always have a backup of your work this way too.

Answered Question

Mahalo is adding a tip to all questions that don't offer a tip.
I claimed a HOW TO RUSH WEEK task, my first. I submitted some notes, assuming I could revise them later. How do I do this?
The page in question is here: http://www.mahalo.com/tasks/how-to-rush-week-build-a-how-to-page-on-how-to-stay-mentally-sharp I am not on a "How to" team. This is my first attempt at doing this. When I claimed the task, I got what you see in the photo below. So I started to do some research, just for a few minutes and jotted my notes into the boxes. Then I submitted it, assuming I could revise it. I don't see any edit button come up. Just my notes all strung together on one page, with no way to revise them. Then I found out that there apparently is already a page on the subject, ( http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-stay-mentally-sharp ) so I don't know what I am supposed to do. Improve upon a page that is already being managed? I have a lot of ideas, but am I supposed to build the page somewhere else? I don't understand. I thought it said I had 72 hours to do revisions. Can anyone explain the process or point to a page that explains the process?

Now, after submitting this question, and clicking on the top link, I notice I do get back the frame you see in the photo with my notes. So I guess I can start revising them?
OK, now I see an email that says:
Hi duenhsiyen,
Unfortunately, ssmacd has recently rejected your submission to the following task: http://www.mahalo.com/tasks/how-to-rush-week-build-a-how-to-page-on-how-to-stay-mentally-sharp
Guide name provided the following feedback:
It appears that his task was submitted incomplete, so I'm returning it so you can finish it. Based on what you've included already, though, I have a few tips.
1. Delete the instructions from the step box before competing it.
2.The guide note should be a brief overview of what the page will cover. It needs to include the exact page title in a sentence. It should not include lists of ways to stay mentally sharp.
3. This is a health page, so any assertions you make about how to stay mentally sharp should be supported by a reliable source(reliable sources would include health authorities like Mayo Clinic, Merck Manuals, WebMD or the like. It would not include sources like eHow or Wikihow, for example). Include the url of the source in ref tags (url) after the sentence in which you make the assertion.
4. Relalted Pages should be only Mahalo pages--format them like this Alzheimer's Test | How to Prevent Alzheimer's | Dementia
Thanks! Susan
If you would like to try again, please visit the task and reclaim it.
Thanks,
The Mahalo Tasks Team
So it looks Iike I have to complete it off line somewhere, and then paste into the boxes? I did not want to delete the notes in the box, until I'm through, just to remind me of what to do. Do, I just keep on submitting improvements and then reclaiming the task? Does 72 hours mean that I can always reclaim the page within 72 hours of posting? Will someone else reformat the information that I submit into a new Mahalo "How to" page?

Just to add, currently you need to complete the task at 1 time. Once you submit it, it goes for review and it will either be approved or rejected. The time limit it shows is how long you have to work on it before submitting it.

The difficulty is in the system not having a Save option, just having a Submit option. I did the same thing on the first barn-raising. The key is to Claim the task, and then just go to some other part of Mahalo and come back to tasks and you should find the Task in your MyTasks. You can reveiw the requirements, but don't edit directly into the template until you have finished all your research and writing outside of Mahalo.
