Meet the Mahaloian of the Week: Morriss003

Not only is @morriss003 the next in line for a Brown Belt test he is also the Mahaloian of the Week! Also the highest ranking member without a personalized avatar.

Any member who is interesting in trying to create an avatar for Morriss, post it in this thread, if morriss is impressed enough to upload it to his profile, I will reward the creator with M$10 :D

Here is the Q&A with Morriss003

Q: Where are you from and where are you now?
Born in California, lived in Texas and New Mexico, hitchhiked in Arizona, Oregon and Washington, now l live in a small farmhouse on Maui.

Q: What are your favorite categories?
My favorite categories are history and social science.

Q: What is your favorite feature of Mahalo Answers?
The profile pages.

Q: What feature can't you wait for?
I'm patient, I can wait, but I believe that, in the future, tags will be as important as links, and they will be used to exchange funds between social websites and commercial websites, and that those exchanges will be the main source of income for social websites.

Q: Mac or PC?
I'm not cool enough to be a Mac person.

Q: What hobbies do you enjoy?
Reading, gardening, reading, music, reading, writing, reading, star gazing, reading, watching sports (I have four TV's in my TV room). Did I mention reading?

Q: Where is the most-interesting place you've ever been?
As a whole, Arizona

Q: Favorite movie, TV show, band and book?
Casablanca, NOVA, Moody Blues, The Lord of the Rings and The Past Through Tomorrow.

Q: What avatars do you look forward to seeing when you click on a question? Who are your favourite Mahaloians?
All of them

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to a new Mahalo Answers user who wants to be as successful as you, what would that be?
Don't be in a hurry. Sometimes you will be first with an answer, sometimes you won't. Use quotes, list your sources, add a video or picture.

Thanks for all or your hard work, Morriss003! It's paying off for everyone. You're on your way to that brown belt! Keep up the amazing work!

As for your avatar, might I suggest The Thinker?

(I favor the top one)

The Thinker seems perfect for an avid reader like yourself. Let me know if you need it cropped for your avatar pic!

The Thinker! So that's what that is. I always thought it was, Trying to Remember.

Nope, The Thinker is one of the most famous sculptures in the world. Created by Auguste Rodin!

You sound like you've had an interesting life! Small farmhouse in Maui sounds great, but so does living all the different places you've been. Stargazing in Maui must be terrific. I have to admit I'm jealous!

Jealous? How's this? I saw Halley's Comet from the top of Haleakala (10,000 feet) on a completely clear cloudless windless night. Maybe the most awesome thing that I ever saw, except for the two newborn babies with my last name.

Nice to meet you, Morriss! I always thought you was an interesting character.

What do you write when you write? Fiction...? Facts of life?

I'll see if I can come up with a decent icon for you... got to study your profile page a little, first.

Got it!

Great to learn more about you @morriss003. Based on your responses to the interview questions, it's safe to say that you have adapted to the laid-back Hawaiian lifestyle quite well. I like your easy-going nature!

I believe that your new avatar should reflect that personality, which is why I suggest that you use something like the following smooth and cool scene...

Good luck reaching the next belt level!

Don't worry - I'm not cool enough to be a Mac person either. It's funny too - my boss edits mostly on his MacBook Pro with Final Cut 5, and I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. Even at home it's a PC - because I'd have to spend $4,000 on a Mac just to match the performance and software of my 3 year old PC.

As far as the avatar goes, since your profile suggests you like to grow things...you can do a takeoff on that. Perhaps your favorite gardening tool, a watering jug, or maybe even a sun with shades. :)

You like history, and presidents in particular. How about one of our greatest who also happens to be really photogenic and wrote history books as well as made it. TR:

On the other hand, you like LOR, and the natural character who appreciated history there is Gandalf:

It sounds like an interesting life, Morriss003! I see a lot of your excellent answers (I know they're excellent, 'cause I agree with them!) because we're both social studies and history buffs. Good work, and I know it won't be long before we're congratulating you on your brown belt!

As for the avatar...how about modifying this a bit? Haley's comet over Arizona.

Nice to hear a little bit more about you @morriss003

We're envious of you stargazing in Maui.

In fact, make up the spare room, we're all coming to visit! :)

How about something like this for an avatar, to make me jealous every time I see it...

http://www.takehimwithyou.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/stargazing.jpg

Or you could vary it with these...

http://thingsyoushoulddo.com/wp2/wp-content/uploads/2006/10/mauna-kea-summit-adventures.jpg

http://www.westjet.com/sale_offers/images/maui.jpg

But perhaps the view from your farmhouse would be the best of all.

Glad to hear more about you morris003!
Since it looked like you stressed the "written word" I'll put up some avatar ideas that might... just might be good enough for the likes of you!
It's great to have another 'page turner' here!
How about using the beautiful art of text using the letter M?

Hi @morriss003 great to read all about 'you'...

Does the farmhouse have a little red barn...I have a nice picture in my mind of this great old farmhouse and barn type setting just plopped down on the island...but it's probably not quite like that :)

Congrats on MotW!
