Meet the Mahaloian of the Week! - GirlieQ3000
Periodically we like to highlight some of great users even when it's not a belt test, today I'd like to introduce you to the Mahaloian of the Week, @girlieq3000! I had the opportunity to ask her some questions about herself and Mahalo, read her answers below.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/33749589@N07/3838523256/
Q: Where are you from and where are you now?
A: I come from Goderich, Ontario, a little town on the coast of lake Huron. It's beautiful, and I got the privilege of growing up living near the beach, but it's a retirement town and really no fun for anyone under the age of 60. I moved to London, Ontario when I was 18 to attend college, and haven't looked back since.
Q: Favorite movie, TV show, band and book?
A: I'd have to say my all-time favorite movie is Inside Man. It has mixed reviews, but in my opinion, it's a brilliant movie, and perfectly planned. Aladdin has a special spot too; it was one of those movies I'd watch a dozen times in a row for days on end. At the moment my favorite TV show is Lost. It's so addictive! I watch them on DVD to save myself the pain of waiting a week between episodes. When I'm in the mood for more mindless entertainment I tend to flip to Family Guy or The Simpsons. I have so many favorite bands and artists I can't just name one; I'm into too many different styles! However, I tend to stick to fairly current artists - Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, and Tiesto to name a few. Same goes for books; James Frey's books are a great read, and I love Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha... and lets not forget about good ol' Harry Potter!
Q: Where is the most-interesting place you've ever been?
Though I love to travel, I haven't had much opportunity to get far from home yet. I did get to spend a week in Austin Texas last year, and I loved it! Being from Ontario, Texas was a huge culture shock for me. I'd love to travel to Japan when I get the chance!
Q: How did you first hear about Mahalo? And how did you decide to Sign up?
I heard about Mahalo from another answers site; someone had asked where the best places to make money online were and this showed up in the mix. I figured I already had plenty of experience answering questions, so it was worth a shot! I signed up because I love answering questions and this was a great opportunity to experience a different online community - and the chance to make a little pocket change doesn't hurt either!
Q: What do you spend more time, Mahalo Tasks, Mahalo Answers or Page Management?
Throughout my time at Mahalo I've spent the majority of my time answering questions. I tried a few tasks and pages when they were first offered, but I didn't enjoy them as much as answering - not right away at least. In the last couple of weeks both Tasks and Pages have grown on me and I've found my time is being split much more evenly between the three.
Q: How do you decide on pages to Manage?
I decide which pages to manage the same way I decide which questions to answer - I stick to what I know! I find things I already know about are easy for me to write about, so managing a page and doing research is more like an enjoyable hobby than a chore. If I was clueless about a subject (like cars, for example) I'd probably avoid the page, no matter how much money it offered, because I wouldn't enjoy working on it.
Q: What methods of updating do you use, and when do you decide to update?
I update my profit-earning pages whenever I get a chance - I usually try to add or edit at least one section every couple of days. I check all of the links to make sure they're still working, remove the old news, add current news stories, and rearrange the pictures and photos. I'll add sections when I can think of a new one. I update my non-earning pages less frequently, but I try to make some sort of change every couple of weeks at least. I have all of my updates written out in my agenda, so I can quickly check what is due for updating!
Q: What page of yours earns the most money?
Though none of my pages make me a fortune, Tattoos makes the most by far. Having a few myself, I know that many people with tattoos gain an obsession with them and scour the internet for every photo, article, video, and opinion they can find, so it doesn't surprise me it makes more than anything else!

Q: What do you enjoy the most about Mahalo?
I love helping people! Though a lot of the questions or searches are just because of general interest, some people come on really looking for help for a problem. I love writing about things I am knowledgeable of, so answering these questions and knowing I gave the correct information and made someone's day a little easier is very rewarding. I also love the fact that it works in reverse; I could come on and ask anything and get an honest, non-judgmental answer from the community!
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to a new Mahalo user, what would that be?
I'd have to say just generally be careful how you ask and answer your questions. Ask providing lots of detail to take out the guesswork of what you mean. Answer assuming nothing other than the information provided. Don't judge people on their questions, and site your facts with sources. I'd also have to mention to utilize the power of the community. There are so many great people here that will always be some willing to help you with your problems, answer your questions, provide advice, or simply teach you something new - these people are here because they enjoy what they're doing, so take advantage of it!

Aww, thanks so much @bunnyphuphu! It's nice to know someone out there finds my work helpful!
And I think you read my mind... I was just thinking of the possibility of some ferret-related ink today!

Congratulations girlieq, it's always good to get to know different people on this site since I'm fairly new and by the way I love the Ferret. I could never think of a good name for a ferret but I LOVE the name Farrah for her. Congrat's once again.
