  • Canadian professional hockey player Anson Carter plays in Switzerland for the HC Lugano of the Nationalliga A. He previously played in the National Hockey League between 1996 and 2007.
  • NHL Career

    Carter was drafted 200th overall in the 1992 NHL draft by the Quebec Nordiques. He did not join the NHL right away, but played four seasons at Michigan State University. While in college, Carter's rights were transferred to the Colorado Avalanche in 1995, when the Nordiques relocated, then he was traded to the Washington Capitals in 1996. He made his NHL debut with the Capitals in 1996. After 19 games with the Capitals, he was traded to the Boston Bruins. He played in Boston until November 15, 2000, when he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. Carter played nearly three seasons with the Oilers before he was sent to the New York Rangers on March 11, 2003. In early 2004, he was first traded to the Washington Capitals, then the Los Angeles Kings. On August 17, 2005, Carter signed with the Vancouver Canucks, where he played for a single season before signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets on September 13, 2006. He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on February 23, 2007 and completed the 2006-07 season there. Carter was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs training camp prior to the 2007-08 season, but did not make the team. Carter then left the NHL and signed with the HC Lugano in Switzerland.
