Anousheh Ansari was the first female private citizen to leave the Earth's atmosphere. Ansari became the fourth space tourist ever, paying for her 10-day trip to the International Space Station with the Russian space program in September 2006. Ansari is the founder and CEO of the telecommunications company Prodea Systems.
