Anorexia, specifically known as anorexia nervosa, is an eating disorder that involves an intense fear of weight gain. Anorexia is a psychiatric disorder. A person with anorexia will be skeletally thin but still believe they are fat. A person with anorexia will starve themselves or do excessive exercise to be sure they don't gain weight.

Complications
There can be numerous complications associated with anorexia. Anorexia has one of the highest death rates among mental illnesses. Some health problems that can be caused by anorexia include anemia, heart problems such as arrhythmias and heart failure. Lack of nutrition can cause bone loss. In females anorexia can cause lack of menstruation. Anorexia can also cause lung problems that resemble emphysema. There is also a risk of kidney problems with anorexia and gastrointestinal problems like constipation, bloating or nausea. -
