Annie Hall

Annie hall chronicles the relationship of neurotic comedian Alvy Singer, played by Woody Allen, and the title character, Annie Hall, a scattered singer played by Diane Keaton. The movie, set primarily in New York City, follows the couple's many arguments and reconciliations, as well as much of their biographical history. Heralded for bringing a new level of seriousness to Woody Allen's work, the 1977 film was called "just about everyone's favorite Woody Allen movie" by Roger Ebert in 2002. Technically, Annie Hall is recognized for its extensive use of long takes and breaks with conventional cinematic realism. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards in 1977 and won four. Woody Allen did not attend the awards ceremony, stating that the recognition meant nothing to him.
