Annette Bening is an American actress. She was born on May 29, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas. Bening has three siblings, Jane, Bradley and Byron Bening. Bening spent her early childhood in Wichita, Kansas, but her family later moved to San Diego, California. Bening attended San Francisco State University where she majored in theater arts. She then attended the American Conservatory Theater where she continued her training in acting.

Bening was married to choreographer J. Steven White, but the couple later divorced. In 1992, she married actor Warren Beatty. The couple has four children together: Kathlyn Elizabeth, Benjamin Maclean, Isabel Ira Ashley, and Ella Corinne Beatty. Bening won the 2011 Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Bening made her acting debut at the Second Stage Theatre in the production of Coastal Disturbances in 1987. Her television debut came with the television movie Manhunt for Claude Dallas. In 1988, she landed a role in the film The Great Outdoors as Kate Craig. She then moved on to other roles in the films The Grifters, Bugsy, The Siege, American Beauty, and Regarding Henry.
