Billionaire Rob Burkle accused Raffaello Follieri of embezzling funds from his charity, The Follieri Foundation, in 2007. A law suit was brought against Follieri and was later settled resulting in Follieri paying $1.3 million. In March 2008, Follieri was involved in another law suit for writing a bad check in the amount of $215,000 to a former business associate. Follieri payed the check and the suit was dropped. It was announced in June 2008, that the New York State Attorney General’s office began an investigation on Follieri.
