Former Episcopal Priest Ann Holmes Redding was defrocked by the Christian church on April 1, 2009, after admitting to believing and practicing both Islam and Christianity. Her dual beliefs were first unveiled in June 2007. Rhode Island Bishop Geralyn Wolf gave Redding more than a year and a half to reexamine her belief system and to withdraw from Islam before disrobing her of her priesthood. Redding believes that her two faiths can live side-by-side in her life.
