Anita Thompson is the widow of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who died in 2005 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Career
After leaving UCLA Anita Thompson worked as a fundraiser in San Francisco for the Sierra Group. She returned to Fort Collins and worked at a ski store and as a nanny for various families.
In 1999 Anita Thompson began working for Hunter S. Thompson as his assistant doing photocopying and research. She moved in with him in 2000 and three years later they married.
After his death she has carried on his work publishing a magazine The Woody Creeker and authoring the book The Gonzo Way: A Celebration of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson that pays tribute to her late husband.
