Anil Ambani is an Indian businessman based out of Mumbai, the chairman of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. He was ranked as the 34th richest man in the world in 2009 with a fortune of $10.1 billion.
On April 23, 2009, pebbles and gravel were found in the gearbox of Ambani's helicopter, placed their as an apparent attempt to sabotage his flight and assassinate the billionaire. The sabotage attempt was discovered by Bharat Borge, an Air Works technician who was found dead on April 28, 2009, after being ran over by a train. Losses
In 2008, Ambani lost $32 billion of his original fortune, falling from the #8 richest man in the world to #34. The majority of his losses were caused by his shares in Reliance Communications, Reliance Power and Reliance Capital which fell steeply by the end of the year.
