• Ani DiFranco is a prolific and politically charged alternative folk singer, songwriter and performer who has developed a loyal and devoted fanbase through constant touring and the release of at least one new album every year (since 1990). She is also considered by many to be a feminist icon due to her staunch support for women's rights.

  In 1989, DiFranco started her own record label, Righteous Babe. Releasing her own music has allowed DiFranco tremendous artistic freedom and the ability to collaborate with a diverse array of artists including Prince, Utah Phillips and Maceo Parker.

  In 2007, DiFranco gave birth to a daughter, Petah Lucia DiFranco Napolitano. The child's father in DiFranco's boyfriend and the co-producer of her 2006 release Reprieve, Mike Napolitano.
