Angela's Ashes is a memoir about a childhood of poverty and hardship in Ireland during the 1930s and 1940s.

Angela's Ashes tells the true story of author Frank McCourt and his family. After the death of his younger sister in 1933, the family moves back to Ireland. After Frank's alcoholic father moves to England for work, his family is left to take care of themselves.
