  • Former NBA player Andy Kennedy coaches the Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team.

    Kennedy was arrested on December 18, 2008, in Cincinnati, Ohio, for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver and using racial slurs.   • Arrest

    In December of 2008, Kennedy was arrested for assault of a taxi driver. He denied the claims and pleaded not guilty to the charges.ESPN.com: ...   • Playing Career

    Kennedy played basketball in high school at Winston Academy in Louisville, Massachusetts, leading the team to the state championship in 1983. He transferred to Louisville High School in 1984, playing three years and earning All-American, All-State and Mississippi Player of the Year honors. In 1986, Kennedy enrolled at North Carolina State, helping the NC State Wolfpack to the ACC championship in 1987. Following his freshman season, Kennedy transferred to play for the UAB Blazers, winning the NCAA Tournament and Sun Belt championship in 1990. Following Graduation, he played three seasons in the NBA and in Europe before consecutive knee injuries ended his playing career.Ole Miss Sports: Andy Kennedy
  • Coaching Career

    Kennedy began his coaching career with the South Alabama Jaguars, serving as an assistant coach during the 1994-95 season. He then returned to the UAB Blazers, working as an assistant coach from 1996 to 2001, helping the team reach the National Invitation Tournament in 1997 and 1998 and the NCAA Tournament in 1999.Ole Miss Sports: Andy Kennedy

    In 2001, Kennedy took a position with the Cincinnati Bearcats, serving as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for three seasons, then the head coach for a year and a half, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament four years in a row.
