  • Andy Griffith is an American actor, producer, writer and singer who played the title character in The Andy Griffith Show. His other notable roles are A Face in the Crowd and Matlock. Griffith began his career as a monologist and then transitioned to performing on Broadway before becoming a television and film actor.

    Griffith's other acting credits include Onionhead, Gomer Pyle, Spy Hard, Waitress, Go Ask Alice, Frosty's Winter Wonderland, Roots: The Next Generations and Return to Mayberry. He can next be seen in Play the Game.

    Andy Griffith's first wife was Barbara Bray Edwards. They were married for 23 years and in that time adopted two children, one boy and one girl. After he divorced Edwards he married Solica Cassuto, but divorced her in 1981. He married his current wife, Cindi Knight, in 1983.
