Anduw Jones agreed to a one year contract with the Texas Rangers on February 8, 2009. The deal will reportedly pay Jones $500,000. The former all-star centerfielder is attempting to resurrect his career after a disappointing 2008 season when he averaged a meager .158 batting average, with 3 home runs and 14 runs batted in. Jones made his first post season appearance in 1996, when the Braves lost the World Series to the New York Yankees. In 1998, Jones win his first of ten consecutive Golden Glove Awards.

In 2000, Jones was selected for his first of five MLB All-Star Game appearances. Following his fourth All-Star game in 2005, Jones was also selected for the Silver Slugger Award and was second in voting for the MLB Most Valuable Player award. Additionally in 2005, Jones was given the Hank Aaron Award, for leading the league in homeruns that season, with 51.

On January 2, 2009, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that the team has reached an agreement to part ways with Andruw Jones. The team will either trade or release Jones before the start of Spring Training of the 2009 Major League Baseball season. Jones will receive the remainder of his $21.1 million dollar contract.
