Early Career
Jones originally signed as an undrafted amateur free agent with the Atlanta Braves on July 1, 1993. After his first few years in the minors, Jones was called up to make his MLB debut on August 15, 1996 with the Braves.Pro Career
In 1994 Jones earned a full roster spot with the Braves, playing in 153 games, hitting 60 runs and 18 homeruns. He came in fifth for the MLB Rookie of the Year the same year.Jones made his first post season appearance in 1996, when the Braves lost the World Series to the New York Yankees. In 1998, Jones win his first of ten consecutive Golden Glove Awards.
In 2000, Jones was selected for his first of five MLB All-Star Game appearances. Following his fourth All-Star game in 2005, Jones was also selected for the Silver Slugger Award and was second in voting for the MLB Most Valuable Player award. Additionally in 2005, Jones was given the Hank Aaron Award, for leading the league in homeruns that season, with 51.
