Andrew Wyeth

Noted American artist Andrew Wyeth died on January 16, 2009, at his home in the Philadelphia suburb of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. According to family members, the 91-year-old Wyeth "died in his sleep" following a brief illness. One of Andrew Wyeth's most recognizable works, "Christina's World," is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The painting depicts a disabled girl crawling through the grass towards a rural house. The girl, Christina Olson, was Wyeth's neighbor in Maine.
