In May 2007, Atlanta attorney Andrew Speaker flew to Europe and back while infected with drug-resistant tuberculosis. Speaker was getting married and going on his honeymoon in Europe. Speaker had recorded communications with the CDC in which they said he was allowed to fly. Ironically, Speaker's father-in-law is a research microbiologist whose specialty is the spread of tuberculosis.
On April 30, 2009, The Associated Press reported that Speaker was filling a lawsuit against the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claiming that the organization invaded his privacy and damaged his reputation.The CDC spokesman declined to comment.NYDailyNews: Andrew Speaker, quarantined for tuberculosis...
