Andrew Ference

  • Andrew Ference is a professional ice hockey player with the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League.
  • Early Career

    Prior to his NHL days, he played for the the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League. He was then drafted 208th overall in the 1997 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ference continued to play in the minors until 1999 when he made his NHL debut with the Penguins. He split his first couple of seasons between the NHL and the Penguins' American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Ference was then traded, in 2003, to the Calgary Flames.
  • Recent Years

    During the 2004-05 NHL Lockout, Ference played in the Czech Republic for the HC Ceske Budejovice. He rejoined the Flames for the 2005-06 season, which was his statistically best since joining the NHL. Ference scored four goals and 27 assists for a points total of 31. Early in 2007, the Flames traded Ference to the Boston Bruins, where he has since served as a very physical player for the team.
