Andrew Brunette

  • Andrew Brunette is a professional hockey player originally from Canada. He currently plays left wing for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League. Brunette formerly served as the captain of the Minnesota Wild and currently serves as an alternate captain of the Avalanche.
  • Early Years

    Brunette began his career playing for the Owen Sound Platers in the Ontario Hockey League. He was drafted 174th overall in the 1993 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. He spent the next few years with the Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates, then made his NHL debut in 1997. On June 26, 1998, Brunette was claimed by the Nashville Predators in the NHL expansion draft. He played just one season in Nashville, which included scoring the first goal in the history of the franchise.
  • Recent Years

    On June 21, 1999, Brunette was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers. He played nearly every regular season game with the Thrashers over the next two seasons, then signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Wild on July 6, 2001. Over the next three years in Minnesota, Brunette served as team captain for for the Wild six months, part of their rotating captain system at the time. Brunette entered free agency in 2005 and signed with the Colorado Avalanche on August 6, 2005. He renewed his contract with the Avalanche on September 13, 2006, keeping him in Colorado through the 2007-08 season.
