    Liveras described his life as a "rag to riches" story. He was born to a Greek Cypriot shepherd and emigrated to London in 1963. He eventually amassed a fortune by buying a British bakery business for which he had formerly worked as a delivery driver. He eventually sold that business for millions and entered the world of yachting.
