Andrea Curry-Demus was arrested after she lied about giving birth prematurely. Initially she was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and other minor charges. However, on July 18, 2008, police found the body of 18-year-old Kia Johnson in the apartment of Curry-Demus. Faking Childbirth
Demus called paramedics on July 16, 2008, telling the medics that she had given birth prematurely. The infant's umbilical cord was still attached.

Demus History of Baby-Stealing
In 1990, Demus was accused of kidnapping an infant from a children's hospital.
