In a game versus the Tennessee Titans during the 2006 season, Titans tackle Albert Haynesworth knocked off Gurode's helmet and proceeded to stomped his face. Gurode needed 30 stitches to repair the gash caused by the assault. The NFL suspended Haynesworth for five games, the longest for an on-field incident in league history.
